We began with a 6am wakeup, 8:30 Lyft to the airport, 10:45 flight to Chicago….great views of the Biltmore, downtown Asheville and of course mountain views after takeoff…

…. then Lake Michigan for our descent into Chicago where we have 6 hours of layover, where we use 3 clubs, then finally board, getting comfy in our bulkhead seats, laughing at the great Anime safety videos, and settle in for a really smooth 13-hour flight to Tokyo.

Phew.  Exhausting even with a few hours sleep.  But watching us land on the runway with those cool under carriage cameras was a nice way to wake up.

Immigration is fortunately a breeze – we have our QR code in hand, while others without the code clogged up the works, but we literally walked right through.  Our bags are off the carousel in literally no time. We breeze through customs and walk out the door to the waiting concourse shuttle bus.  Arriving at the Airport Royal Park Hotel 1 hour and 3 minutes after we landed.  Amazing!

Settled into the room, drank our packed beer and wine then fell right asleep – on an off – until morning. Welcome to Tokyo!
