12/17 – Sea Day

We are jam packed busy today!  Seriously.  Normal morning routine, gym and breakfast.  Then it is to the spa, yes, you read that right, the spa. For a haircut for Ed and manicure for me.  We gotta get rid of this onboard credit somehow!  Jeez.  So a delightful hour later, we’re both spiffied up and in the Cabaret for an excruciating Chuck talk about Mossel Bay.  For some reason he’s just gotten on my nerves after all this time.  And some of the stuff he talks about isn’t even relevant to the destination or just plain wrong.  Oh well, we won’t have him to kick around anymore – this is the last lecture we’ll be attending with him as his next is Cape Town, which we’ve already seen.

Next is lunch, then onto the Cabaret for Jim and South Africa’s glacial deposits.  Such an education we are getting.   We have a little bit of down time before it is time for our Insider’s Ship tour.  See above onboard credit comment!  Actually, this is fun – we don’t think we’ve done it on Azamara – or if we have, we’ve forgotten.  There are only 8 of us and we get to wander through the galley, the provisions area, Engine Control room and of course the bridge.  Just a good way to blow 2 hours on a sea day.

We’re done at 5:30, so we hit the gym for 30 minutes, but before we go in we peek out at White Night – it is getting busy already!  Far different from last cruise.  We have no intention of going tonight. 3 White Nights in 1 month are just too much.  We’ve reservations in Prime C which we are looking forward to.

Oh, another bonus of peeking at white night:  I find that f’ing chart from the photo scavenger hunt!  Yes! And I’m not giving away my secret as to what and where it is……bleaders, you’ll have to find it yourself (you know who you are!!).  LOL.

Prime C is wonderful as always.  I actually veered away from my norm and got the Goat Cheese and Onion tart, which was excellent!  Ed got the fish for his main and loved that too.  Ah, staying out of the rut.  Yeah, well, for a moment anyway.

Mary Jane, our sweet waitress, and I got into this big wine discussion, about the missing container, about not being able to buy wine locally, about Pinot Grigio and how she likes Danzante, as do I, but it isn’t on the wine list any longer.  We told her we were thinking about buying wine to get rid of our onboard credit (we’re getting desperate now), and what does she do?  She goes to get Martin, the sommelier, to see if there is Danzante and brings him over.  Smart girl, that Mary Jane!  As it turns out, he does have Danzante, and some other bottles and he says I can try them all and then decide if I want to buy them.  He brings over Danzante, a Pinot Gris and his favorite Pinot Grigio from Italy.  I don’t need to taste, I trust him!  So we end up with 3 bottles, overpriced, but really they are free – so…..I now have wine for the hotel in Cape Town – that’s for sure!

After dinner, we head back to the cabin to stream the Jeeves play at NC Stage.  Unfortunately, the darn streaming service won’t work.  It totally stinks, coz we can stream Netflix and Amazon no problem – but this?  Not happening. Total bummer.  Oh well, it’s a donation to NC Stage, and they need it.  So, Plan B, we sit on the balcony and read for a while, then come in and, yes, stream Netflix.

All in all a good day and evening – no complaints here.
