6/5 – Sea Day – sort of – at port in Piraeus

It’s a sea day, sorta kinda. We are up and out of the cabin as soon as we can to give our cabin steward time to turn it over for new guests. Our instructions were to go down to the Cabaret lounge at 9 to get our new cards, which we did, and also at the same time made our specialty dining reservations handled with Angelique (the 2nd of our adorable hostess – the 1st is April who we adore), no chef’s tables yet, but we’ll see.

New cards in hand, we’re still looking for that upgrade. Tatiana tells us that she has special prices for B2B guests which turns out to be 50 percent off the upgrade price.  The Spa suite was relatively reasonable at that price, so we went upstairs to peek at it – and it is pretty cool. We could do that. Back down to GR, we told them the Spa suite was fine, but also offered a counter to the Owner’s Suite price. Tatiana wasn’t there, so we just told Artur – the sweet new GR guy to relay her our offer.

Then we wandered about for a bit on our own empty private yacht, eventually heading back down to deck 7 aft, where all our luggage was waiting for a room in the aft hallway. We told the cabin steward that we were trying to move to the Owner’s Suite and, long story short, the housekeeping manager just happened to be down there too, we got to talking, he called Tatiana and….lo and behold, we negotiated right apparently and Tatiana approved our move to the aft Owner’s Suite. Movin’ on up! We’re so pleased. Once in a lifetime (for sure!) and we’ll take it! Because, well, it’s an awesome cabin. Separate bedroom and living room, huge bathroom – and the balcony is the deal!!!! Massive. Even though this next leg will be port intensive like the first – we’ll be using the heck out of this balcony, we can assure you!

Now we have the rest of our day to ourselves. A special lunch in Aqualina for us B2B folks, which was lovely and I actually had a Beyond Burger and liked it. Who would guess? Then back down to the cabin to unpack.

Our plans were to just hang on the balcony the rest of the day, but no. Greece has other ideas! It is time for the surprise face-to-face immigration inspection on the pier where all 20 B2B’ers were escorted out and through immigration and then back onboard. Oh and the next news is that Greece is making masks mandatory aboard the ship. Not on land, Greece just dropped that requirement on 6/1, but on the ship? Just today they made it mandatory. Those crazy Greeks!!!

We don’t care.  We wear them all the time anyway! Not an issue for us.

We hit the gym a little early today, trying to avoid the new passengers and their tours of the ship (and rooms they’ll look at today but never see again – LOL). Then we’re taking full advantage of our balcony by hanging out there until dinner time. Which was just hysterical – wonderfully hysterical in that there was no one around!  The dining room was virtually empty, which was great for us because it allowed us to talk to our waiter and assistant waiter forever. The bar in the Den was also empty, so we really got to know our sweet bartender who moved from the Living Room bar down here for this leg. And our other sweet bartender, I Nyoman, moved upstairs. They’ll all be our best friends by the time we are off this ship. Especially with only 180 passengers!

Then we’re back to the balcony for a gorgeous sunset and the rest of our evening in the cool Aegean Sea breeze.
