2/2 – Superbowl Sunday

Back aboard the Gem, we have our strategy all worked out for Superbowl watching! We head upstairs to Spinnakers and hang out at the bar for a while. The whole place is rearranged with extra seating and a long table along one of the window walls for the football “snacks.” We’re not staying for the game, just have a couple drinks – oh and trying to win swag through the Bud Lite scratch off cards we get when we order a Bud Lite. So far – no winners. Of course we make a big game of it and crack Sherwin and Joel up. What else are we for, besides comic relief?

At the appointed hour – a little before game time – we head back down to the cabin. We figure we’ve got this big room, we might as well watch the game in comfort from our sofa. Oh, and order in. Yep, we have actually asked Peter to bring us dinner, albeit a “football” sort of dinner! We wanted O’Sheehan’s wings and the pub dog (which has sauerkraut and bacon – yum!), oh and a side of nachos, so we went down there the other day to ask if we could get to-go from them. The answer is no, but a couple of the waiters ended up chatting with us, and somehow we told them we were in a suite (I can’t recall how that came up since we never tell anyone), so one of them looks at us and says “use your butler!” in this great tone of incredulity. Because of course, we’d never ask our butler to do anything out of the ordinary for us – it is just not in our DNA – but this once, just this once. Yes, we did ask Peter to bring us O’Sheehan’s food. And right on schedule he is at the door delivering our meal.

And we are happy campers for the rest of the evening. Food. Football. Comfy digs. Drinks upstairs after the game. It is all good (except we still haven’t won any swag – but we’ll keep trying!).
