1/27 – Richards Bay, S. Africa – land ho

Today might as well be a sea day for us – our only plans are lunch with Rafa and Monique, and immigration, so we spend a nice slow morning at the gym and breakfast, then waiting around to be called for immigration.

Tasks complete, we up for lunch at the gangway and make our way over to Khrua Thai where Rafa and Monique have eaten before and enjoyed.  And rightly so – the food is amazing – and so much of it.  Ay yi yi – we feasted on superb dumplings and wontons and sampled some of the excellent Laab that R&M ordered.  Our mains were Pad Thai and Ba Mee Pad – both wonderful, accompanied by Windhoek of course.  We spent a wonderful time just hanging out and chatting and enjoying the company.  A great way to spend time together.

Back on the ship, we debate going out to shop the little market on the pier, but ditch that in favor of hanging out on the balcony watching people come and go, and Sri come back from his shopping expedition!  He bought so much – can’t wait to see where it shows up (probably on the White Night buffet which we aren’t going to attend….so…..)

Drinks at the Discoveries bar with Putu who has secured some great different beer for Ed – he is so cute!  Tonight’s selection is Devils Peak Beer which has the cutest explanation of its taste!

After dinner it is on to the Cabaret for Matty’s “Not that Jersey Show” – a great, fun evening of all sorts of Jersey-born star’s songs:  Springsteen (of course), Bon Jovi, Connie Francis, Dionne Warwick, Sinatra and more.  In addition, as we are sitting waiting for the show to start, Rex and Jeff (2 of our fav bar servers) come over and mess with Matty’s phone (which is set up recording the stage), flip it to selfie and we all wave and say hi and mess around.  Too funny!  Once the show starts, though, there is no messing around – Matty is quite talented and puts on a fantastic show.  We’ve been so lucky with the talented cast and all the different shows they’ve put on these 2 voyages.

A lovely semi-sea day for us.
