1/14 – Sea Day #3

We’re bouncing around through the Indian Ocean still this morning.  Which means I stay in bed while Ed hits the gym, meeting up later in Windows for breakfast.  Then it is a morning of lectures:

  • Dr. Sveltlana with A Sky Where North Meets South, more good information about the stars, planets and where they are located.
  • Dr. Aleksandrs’ talk about Asteroids – Threat or Opportunity, a really interesting deep dive into Asteroids, Comets and Meteor showers.  Factoids include that Asteroids are just “left overs” from when planets are “built” (formed); Meteor showers are caused by debris from Comets after they pass through the orbit.

Then the big Officers’ BBQ with the standard suckling Pig, sausages, and other BBQ-y type things.  After that, well, it’s a cabin day – nothing else going on around the ship that interests us.  We have enough to keep us occupied between reading, doing family work stuff and fighting with the Internet which has suddenly become wonky on our way to the Seychelles.

Late afternoon is the norm – gym, drinks, then the Italian Chef’s Table – which is nice, a good group of Canadians at the table and good food as always.  The wine was a bit blah – in my opinion, but only because I’m just not into reds and there were only 2 whites, one of which was an unpleasant Italian Chardonnay.  Eh?  What can you do?

On the “this is why we love Azamara onboard” subject, our waiter at dinner, whom we’ve had minimal contact with, out of the blue, asks us if we would like our dessert sent to our cabin. So, now the entire wait staff knows we don’t eat dessert?  But will save it for the next day?  Too funny and nice and very attentive!

So all in all, a good day, and a good night aboard Journey.
