10/22 – Let the travel begin!

Our long day begins a little after 4am, as we are trying to get ourselves onto Central European time.  Getting up this early gives us enough time to wash and dry the sheets so they are fresh and new when we come home as well as take a walk along Reed Creek at dawn.  We still have down time before we leave at 11am but manage to fill it with different little chores and last minute organizational tasks.  Then it is off we go to CLT for our 4:30 direct flight to Munich.  Unfortunately, 4:30pm turns out to be more like 6pm, but we actually would rather be late – then we won’t have too much time to fill before we can get into our room at the condotel.

The flight, once airborne, is smooth and easy. There is a beautiful sunset.  The food is quite good and the flight attendants know how to pour wine – that is for certain!  We actually manage to get a few hours of decent sleep, awake to an amazing sunrise through the thick clouds and arrive in Munich semi-rested.

Transport into the city (45 minutes!!) was easy – our driver was there within minutes of us exiting the terminal and we were at the Citadines hotel as quickly as could be managed in tons of traffic.  Of course, our room isn’t ready, so we dump our bags and head out into the city to start our explorations….
