And thank God for being only 1 of 2!! There is absolutely NOTHING of interest on the agenda today. Nothing. So it is a balcony/blog/reading kind of day. We do our normal morning thing – coffee, gym, breakfast, then divert to ShoreX to stand in line (we got there way early to be first, but then let another woman go who was standing after we were sitting) to ask 3 simple questions. Got answers to 1 – the other 2 – where will the bus drop us off in Granada and Florence – we’ll find out on the bus. Don’t need it today, but you know us – we like to plan. Hit the spa to book a mani-pedi for me, gotta spend the non-refundable onboard credit! While I was there, Ed went for coffee, saw a woman with a shirt that had a maple leaf and said True North, Strong and Free. He told her he liked her shirt, she asked where he was from, and when he said the US, she snarled at him and said I hate you, I hate you all and what you have done to my portfolio. What? Um, we aren’t “them” lady. When Ed tried to defend himself by saying that wasn’t how we were, she launched into some vitriol, then said something to the effect of she doesn’t talk politics on cruises. Ed countered with, “well, then you shouldn’t wear that t-shirt.” Uh huh. Sigh. The ironic thing is that these 2 cruises have been the most Liberal ever. They clap at Gulf of Mexico, they laugh at inferred Trump jokes and sarcastic statements. It is amazing – and lovely. But then you have Canada woman. What can you do? Besides go back to hide in the cabin for aforementioned balcony sitting.
For lunch, we were quite excited to be able to sit outside – it’s warm enough in the sun – then we quickly absconded back down to the cabin for more balcony sitting, blogging, reading, etc.
Afternoon is the norm, gym, lounge, drinks on the balcony. But it’s dressy night. Sigh. So instead of the dining room insanity, we eat upstairs in the buffet where we can pick and choose what we want and not have to bother with the long lines and even longer wait times in the main dining room.
Back to the balcony we go for the evening, as it’s StepOne tonight. Ah well, we have plenty to occupy us in the cabin, and honestly? There’s already way too much coughing, sniffling, nose blowing going on around this ship to make sitting in the theater comfortable!
