1/15 – We’re off to the Hot Countries

Today begins our 45-day SE Asia/India odyssey – leaving one temperature extreme for another.  We will encounter something like a 70 degree temperature swing from the time we awoke today to the time we arrive in Bali in 3 days.  Phew – this will be quite the change!  Our travel starts off seamlessly today.  Lisa has wonderfully offered to drive us to the airport and deposits us there in no time at all – from here, it is just a short flight up to Newark – flying first over the gorgeous, yet still devastated WNC mountains (you can still see the mud/silt reaching out from the rivers) and onto New Jersey, where the water is far more pristine, and cold! That’s ice down there….

….then onto our overnight stay in Elizabeth to prepare for our loooooong flight to Singapore tomorrow.

Today’s journey goes off without a hitch, although the Uber from the airport to the hotel just about scares us to death the way he drives.  Ack!  But, we made it safe and sound, with plenty of time to hit the gym, then have a filling dinner at Ruby Tuesdays in the parking lot next door.  Did I mention it is only 20 degrees up here?  Uh, yeah, we’re not going very far in search of sustenance!

A couple of TV shows later and we hit the hay, preparing ourselves for our long days of travel tomorrow.
