A good day to get used to being back on HAL Oosterdam size ship. We love this class of ship, but I’m still getting confused as to where things are because compared to Azamara, this is so big!!!! We start our normal routine, gym, breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill, then a coffee chat with Ed, the cruise and travel director. He’s great, telling us all about himself and how he ended up in this position. Very fun. Then in the afternoon a Black Forest Cake cooking demonstration, CD Ed’s Port talk for Puerto Montt and Puerto Chacabuco, which we have to leave early to go to the gym in order to make it on time to our suite drink hour at 4:30. Ohhhhhhh! This is the first time we’ve had a suite drink hour, and it turns out to be lovely. We sit with a very nice couple and chat for about 30 minutes until the officers come in with the concierge and say hello, then we all disperse to our nightly doings.

Tonight is dressy night, in which we do not participate. But there are folks who do – less than ever before, but there are still a few tuxes and fancy dresses about. The show tonight does not appeal to us, as it is a guitar duo who are a little too soft for our taste (we looked them up) so we just wandered to the Rolling Stone lounge where we listened to the band – who are really good with a rocking female lead guitarist.
Then it was a nightcap and the balcony, and oh, the towel animal! My favorite – how did they know? 😊
