11/19 – Sea day

Good morning sea day, our only one on this leg of the voyage.

We start off with our normal routine of gym and breakfast, then putzing around for the morning as there isn’t much on the agenda we want to do.  The afternoon on the other hand is busy. First we have Chuck Richardson, the destination speaker, talking about the Canary islands.  He’s a professor and quite good at giving lectures with interesting information.  We hit the gym quickly after the presentation, then clean up and head back to the Cabaret for our back to back meeting.

We get our new key cards (we’re trying to upgrade, but that’s not happening, they are not negotiating too much on pricing, and well, it’s just not worth it to us to pay that much for a suite – our cabin is perfectly fine and we sure as heck don’t care about a Butler!)  and listen to presentations about the next voyage.  The Captain impresses upon everyone that this will be a different cruise than the Spain trips – this will be an “adventure”!  Everyone has the same message, be patient, these aren’t the normal ports like you are used to, things may change, be flexible, etc.  Hey – it’s always an adventure to travel, but we totally understand the message – set the expectations and essentially no whining!  There are 60 people here doing B2B and only 350 some odd total on the next sailing. We don’t understand why it is so undersold, but we’ll take it.  It will be lovely and uncrowded!

We have a little bit of time to relax, and then the loyalty party starts, which was nice as always.  We sat with a couple, Gary and Laura, who we thought looked familiar.  Turns out we sailed with them on Celebrity in 2017 through the Suez Canal of all things!  Talk about a small world!  We part ways after the party and head to the dining room and our sweet table 4, before a drink in the Living Room – where the poor guys up there are packed and busy all night (until 2am!), then down to the cabin for TV and reading and to look forward to Lanzarote – our last port of call on Leg 1.
