Another do nothing sort of relaxing day. One lecture, a coffee chat with the medical center folks – that was different and really fun because the doctor and his nurse are a hoot! Then an early gym outing because tonight is White Night and we must position ourselves appropriately!
As it turns out, we don’t need to get upstairs as early as we did last voyage – because they are slower in setting the deck up today – because of course, it was a sea day and everyone was out on deck, in the sun, and the pool, and the hot tubs…..and even though they make announcements and clearly tell you numerous times that you need to be off the pool deck at 4pm – you know how that goes. So of course they are running late.
We were able to go downstairs and take our showers, get dressed and back up to the pool bar and still get the best seat in the house – our little high-top two-top on the top deck, this time starboard side right by the stairs. Even at 5:30 when we arrive, they still aren’t set up fully as there aren’t any chairs up there yet, but that’s ok – we can stand until they arrive! Finally getting settled in, we sit back to watch the show. And oh, what a show it is!

By 6pm, there is barely a seat in the house. And people keep pouring in. We grab our food right away and then sit back, nibbling and watching. People keep pouring in, with nowhere to sit. By 7, Vishal (the Windows restaurant manager) has his tie off and sleeves rolled up and is carrying tables and chairs from the Living Room to place around the top deck. They are finding tables for the lower pool deck too. They are still rolling in at 7:30 and now the crew is taking chairs from the Drawing room. It is crazy up here! And where the hell have you people all been???? White Night starts at 6 – what have you been doing????

It is so crazy up here, the captain actually climbs up on the roof over the Drawing Room to take pictures. He is a card, that man. We adore him!

What a contrast from the Hong Kong White Night! We think the entire 624 passengers aboard are up here – and they are dancing everywhere! In the aisles, by the tables, just everywhere. When the party really starts they flood the dance floor- you can’t even move. An impromptu conga line springs up, then the entertainment staff makes another conga line. It is crazy wild! We just sit in our little bird’s eye table and watch the merriment. You can’t pay for this much entertainment!
We finally abandon our perch and head down to the balcony where we can still hear the party going on until the 9pm cut off – and even then there are still woo hoos going on up there. God knows how late they stay in the Living Room tonight!

But we are happy down here on our little quiet balcony watching the tons and tons and tons (there must be hundreds) of ships at anchor waiting for passage through the canal. No wonder the Evergiven screwed up the world when it was stuck in the canal at the beginning of the pandemic. Wow! Tomorrow, we will pass by that place as we make our way into the Suez in the morning
