Tons o’activities today. Seriously. We do our normal morning routine, but have to rush down to the Coffee chat with entertainment team – which is fun, except for all the stupid questions from B2B people who have obviously never done a B2B before, as in, why don’t you change the shows? Why are all the movies the same? Why doesn’t the guest lecturer change his presentations? Yada yada yada. One of the guests had been on for something like 4 cruises – what did you expect???? Then we’re off to the History of Japan Part 1 – which sounds like it will be interesting, but the showroom is so crowded we couldn’t get a seat to see the slide presentation and ended up leaving. We are hoping to see it on tv once it is recorded, but skip ahead, spoiler alert – this lecturer’s presentations are not recorded and replayed on the tv…bummer!
On our way to lunch we pass the library, which Westerdam has just reopened on board. OMG! The books! They had the 7 copies of Husbands of Evelyn Hugo! Too bad I’d already read it. Tons of other choices. It was amazing.
Hit the buffet, and since we learned our lesson from the morning lecture, we get to Japan History Part 2 early for good seats, and this guy is great. Plus the history of Japan is just totally fascinating– all about hubris and thinking you’re invincible. We had no idea how much territory they had captured before WWII broke out. They basically had all of SE Asia, including Thailand, under their control. Hubris. Get’s you every time!
The rest of the afternoon was the norm; gym, bar – where they have TONS of Japanese beer, making Ed a very happy camper indeed! We grabbed a couple – “don’t open” (our bartenders will know us soon) for later in the cabin – then dinner, then Cantare is on for this evening and they are excellent. We do love this group and show, and this “set” of Cantare guys are probably the best yet.

Then our normal suite hanging and evening on the balcony before bedtime.
