Up bright and early this morning – of course then again – when are we not? But this morning it is for the sail into the Fjordland National Park. We are entering Milford Sound and we don’t want to miss the spectacular scenery. And spectacular it is! It is an amazingly beautiful, sunny day. That never happens down here! We’ve been here twice and it was cloudy and overcast both times. There is a National Park Ranger onboard for commentary, and even he mentions how unusual it is to have this gorgeous weather.
The Ranger is full of lots of interesting and detailed facts about the Fjordlands and all the bays and mountain ranges surrounding the area. But he is really hard for me to understand, I get about 1/3 to ½ of what he says. Plus over the loudspeakers, even though we have it on the TV in the cabin, he’s really hard to hear. So, we (mostly me) just hang out on the balcony and watch the beautiful views go by.
I won’t bore you with all the facts and stats, but will just drop the pictures here for you to enjoy!

And true to form, as we enter the 2nd transit, the skies cloud up and the weather becomes much more typical of Fjordlands. Still majestic and beautiful, but just not as brilliantly lit.
Later in the afternoon – between two transits – we go to the theater for a whole presentation on Fjordlands by the Ranger, then spend the rest of the day on our balcony watching the scenery.

We take a break for the gym – how much spectacular scenery can one person take in? Plus, we are up front in the gym and can watch off the prow of the ship, versus the stern where we are located.
Later we head to dinner and because the show doesn’t interest us, we retire to our balcony to watch a spectacular sunset and to hang out for the rest of the evening.
