First sea day out of 8 – a nice day, easy seas. We spend the day in lectures (Ed) and the cooking demo (both of us) then lunch in the buffet (have to know the strategy of getting there early and getting your salad first! Otherwise the line takes forever!). In the afternoon they have this great life raft demonstration where the Cadets (there are a ton aboard) show us how they put on their lifesaving suits and float in the pool, as well as the fire brigade. Plus they have inflated an actual life raft in the pool for everyone to see and the cadets to get in to demonstrate. Claire, our adorable Cruise Director also takes a turn inside the thing.

It’s really different and fun, a great learning experience and a great way to spend an hour of our day.
The rest of the day progresses as usual, gym, drinks, dinner. We’re becoming buffet people because the restaurant is still just too crazy busy and up here? We can just eat salad and be happy campers – plus the salads are really good. Asian salad with seared tuna? Yeah, I’m all about that! Cobb salad or Caesar salad? All here, made special for you. What can we say? Evening on the balcony with a gorgeous moonlit evening. First sea day down. Last port of call tomorrow.
