Today, our morning walk takes us around the little marina that reminds us of Shelter Cove in Hilton Head, only the real deal here, and past the huge camp ground with the tons and tons of campers and people milling around going to the beach. It is a lovely if not already warm walk on the Lakefront, with lots of great water and mountain views.

After a leisurely breakfast with Gaby and Sigis, we took the hotel boat (yes, the hotel has its own boat – it costs, but still!) to Cannobio, another much larger village on the lake. We are here today for their Sunday market – a huge “flea” market so to speak, with everything from jewelry to clothes to sports apparel to handbags to, well, you name it! But ay yi yi. The people! It is jam packed with people. Some of the aisles are so full you can barely move. Eek.
It is still very interesting, and fun to browse. Nothing that piques our interest though, except for this one dress I really liked, but that was just too expensive for my taste – especially since multiple vendors had the same dress and no one bargained. At all. Ok. No dress for me. I’m good with that. After an hour or so of wandering we reconnected with Gaby and Sigis at a little cafe for cappuccino, then took the boat back to the hotel.

Back in Cannero we went off on a search for lunch. We had wanted to try Arancioamora, the place we had drinks and snacks last night, but they had no tables in the shade – and let me tell you, that is a huge priority at this time of the day! So, we wandered down to the little cafe where we ate yesterday and had a light snack – while being entertained by the ducks that came to visit – then retired to our room for a few hours of siesta.

Of course we didn’t siesta, just cooled off, watched some tv and caught up on emails. But still. It’s so hot, doing anything in the afternoon is just untenable. After our rest, our wonderful driver takes us back to Cannobio for dinner. Oh my, how this place has changed in just a few hours! The promenade that was crowded with tents and merchandise and people is now blissfully empty with quite a bit less people wandering around. It is heavenly.
Our first stop is a little restaurant for drinks and snacks – for 1 Euro each, we end up getting this great steam basket full of goodies – along with excellent wine and beer and atmosphere and friendship!

Moving on, we head down the promenade to Ristorante Il Portico, where Sigis had made reservations for us when we were here earlier. Great planning! Outside, right on the promenade, we spend another enjoyable evening on the waterfront, digging into a lovely meal of seafood cerviche (that Ed and I shared), veal marsala for Ed and Tuna with a peach sauce (amazingly good) for me. I’m now on a search for peach sauce recipes, it was that good!

Then back to Cannero for a nightcap down on the waterfront and another wonderful evening with our dear friends.
