6/16 – Piraeus overnight

Breakfast on the balcony! Our last, sadly, but a great way to start our last full day aboard.

Sail in was great. We passed the Oosterdam already in port – small world of cruising! We’ll be on that ship in November for a T-A back from Spain. And, also small world, the Alexanders are here as well! The tug that escorted us in was the Alexander 5! We are everywhere! LOL.

The rest of our day was spent just sort of lolling around the ship. We did laundry for the weekend and packed. Had lunch on the patio where I got my fav tuna wrap, Ed had his fav grouper panini. Back in the cabin we watched Licorice Pizza, which we had wanted to see. Good but weird. Hung out some more, went to the gym, watched the Constellation (one of our all time favorite Celebrity ships) sail away.

Then dinner where we realized EVERYBODY knows us. Crew we don’t even remember greets us by name.  I mean, we know we are memorable – those idiots who hike everywhere, go to weird places on shore, talk with everyone … but really!  For example, at dinner all the waiters we had during both cruises came over to say hello and goodbye. Kenneth, one of the waiters we loved told us he’d miss us. Truly, off the cuff, not rote. Sigh.  Totally sweet. This is why I’m always sad when we leave Azamara – and this time doubly so!

On a more upbeat note, after our farewells, we met Rosanna and Peter for farewell drinks and had a marvelous time. Rosanna has christened us four the AAC’s – Azamara Anti-social Club. Fits us all to a tee! Such fun. and the fun will continue next year when we are in Adelaide and Rosanna and Peter will meet us for the weekend. Looking forward to that already!

Farewells made, we head back for our last night on the awesome balcony watching the ferries sail in and out. Can’t believe we are on starting our last leg of this trip tomorrow! And we are so excited for it – we absolutely cannot wait to reunite with Gaby and Sigis! It has been far too long since we have been together, and we can’t wait for tomorrow afternoon to come on Lake Maggiore. Tomorrow…..
