5/19 – Ring of Kerry (afternoon)

More beauty ensues. More farmland. More coastline. More of just scenic splendor.

Our lunch stop finally arrives a little after 1pm at a cute little cafe called The Scariff Inn with great views from the huge windows in the dining area. It is cafeteria style and we choose two different soups to try along with a small salad and drinks, and are well fed for the day.

We continue our circle route, with overlooks and lakes and valleys….

…until arriving at Ladies View, an overlook where the Queen and her Ladies-in-Waiting went for scenery.  However, Alocoque knows of a better place, so we end up there and she is right. It is spectacular here. And we have now christened this Alacoque’s View.

And that is our last stop on the gorgeous Ring of Kerry loop. Back at the hotel, we organize for our next move – tomorrow we are off to Ennis – take a walk around Killarney, then decide to just get takeout from the Thai restaurant next to our hotel and eat in this evening. What the heck, we’ve got a large enough space and nothing else really appealed to us. And, wow, the food was super good and super huge!! 2 appetizers and 1 Pad Thai to share and we still had to throw out what felt like 2 lbs of food!!  Sigh. Wish we could take it with us, but that won’t fly on a closed in bus, for certain!

After dinner we decided to walk off that great meal, and headed toward the Killarney National Park, but for the 2nd time, we couldn’t find the darn entrance! Tried yesterday too, and somehow just keep getting turned around in town. Oh well, it was still a nice walk and good exercise before our evening reading and watching downloaded shows on our computer in the hotel.
