4/21 – Kruger Park – Breakfast to lunch stop

Back in our trusty safari vehicles and we’re off again.  Through incredibly scenic bushland, for more elephant sightings – and cheerful jousting with the other vehicle – yelling back and forth to each other, mostly them excoriating us for blocking their view.  We definitely have the #1 guide/driver in the Park!

And then, we come upon it.  The main event of the whole drive.  Rhino Porn.  Oh my God – rhinos mating – what a sight to behold.  Not only because of the size of the entire undertaking, but just, well, you can judge for yourself in the videos that I managed to actually take, because most of the time I was laughing so hard I was crying and my hands were shaking so badly from laughing that I could barely hold the phone/camera.  And there is a baby rhino right there with them, which just set us off on another hysterical tangent.  Dear me.  If we thought our group couldn’t get any rowdier or fun – we were sadly mistaken!

Not much could top that and the elephant – and we weren’t even close to lunchtime yet!  So, after a bit, we bid our amorous rhinos adieu and went off into the gorgeous park in search of other wildlife.  The views were spectacular, and the sightings were too!  More giraffes, more zebras, more elephants – oh the elephants!  A whole herd, crossing the road right behind us, with babies in tow.  So magical!

We even managed to spot a mongoose!

And then its time for lunch!  Pre-ordered, and Charl actually was dropped off there early so he could ensure the meal would be ready (since apparently they can be rather slow and disorganized here).  There were still a little discombobulated, but let me tell you, the food was excellent!  Ed got the steak, and I got the chicken schnitzel – which was massively monstrous with bacon on top and monstrously yummy!  Dessert was a very nice chocolate mousse and a cheesecake.  Way too much food on this trip – whether it’s included or on our own!
