11/27 – Rhodes, no Rhodes – the unexpected sea day

Today was supposed to be our day in Rhodes, which we were looking forward to because we’ve not been here since 2006 and have vague recollections of the town where the Knights had so much influence.  But, it is not to be. On the trip that is going to wherever it goes – yet another itinerary change.  This time because of weather.  We arrive in Rhodes on time, but the winds are so strong, we can’t go in.  The captain stays outside the port for about an hour before port officials tell us it is not possible and close the port.

Ah well.  An unexpected day at sea.  Which we spend up on deck in the café writing and reading.  The weather is pleasant enough to be outside, and we are under cover and out of the wind – so all is well. There isn’t much going on that interests us, which is fine, and the day passes by quickly enough.

Gym, dinner and Burn The Floor production show – which is excellent – then nightcaps and off to bed.
