There are so many things we love about Azamara, we could go on forever singing their praises. One of our favorite things are the Chef’s table dinners, and on this cruise in addition to the typical two dinners (French and something else I can’t remember), there is a special Explorer’s Dinner, which salutes Ponce de Leon as one of the leading conquistadors of Spain. Oh yeah, we’re in! As a matter of fact, we made reservations for this in the cruise terminal while we were waiting the outcome of our COVID tests!
Tonight is the night. Instead of doing the normal dinner at one large table in Prime C, because of COVID, these dinners are held in Aqualina at individual tables according to your party size. We like this even better! We’re all by ourselves at a table and can enjoy the ambiance, the food and the Chef’s presentations just as well. A win win for us (yes, I know mom, not for you!).
So, this will be a very quick little blog entry so I don’t bore you to tears waxing poetic over the food – but as a recap: This is a 6 course dinner with wine (or beer in Ed’s case) all focused on the typical foods of Spain – but with a much more modern twist. Each course is introduced by the chef, and we have a pre-printed guide that gives us the recipe for each course as well as a little bit of history. In addition, we have index cards for each course with additional history and background. Let the feast begin!

(FYI, the recipes are exactly what the Chef has made, but the traditional preparation!).

Even for us non-dessert eating people, this was a wonderful light dessert to round out the evening. Yes, we even ate it! All!

Everything was excellent and superb and succulent and whatever other word you want to use to describe a fabulous dinner – and a fabulous way to end a great night in Malaga.
