11/2 – Girona afternoon

Back in Girona, we stow our gear and decide to go walk the walls again! It’s a gorgeous day, why not?  We don’t take any of the detours, just the walls, stopping occasionally to snap a picture of the gorgeous scenery and sunshine.

We come off at the Cathedral, and what a difference a day makes!  It is virtually devoid of people!  We can even take a photo of the little café from which we watched the Human Pilar last night. Crazy.

On the way back through the little winding maze of cobblestone streets, we stop to have a Cappuccino on a picturesque square, then make our way down to what I am calling “pork street” – across from the apartment – to peruse the restaurants there. It seemed like there were 3 or 4, all serving some version of Iberico ham or pork products. But in actuality there are only 2 – with an ancillary shop selling said ham products.  The one we are most interested in, Porcus (I kid you not), is open continuously until 11:30 pm.  That’s the one for us!  So we head back home for a bit to hang out, before walking back over to pork street for dinner.

It is a pork palooza, that is for certain!!!

We fill ourselves with mixed charcuterie – iberico pork, salami, sausage – along with a much more healthy salad and yummy bread with olive oil.  A veritable feast! And lovely sitting outside on the boulevard, even though chilly, munching and watching the goings on around us.

It’s a short walk back to the apartment where we hunker down and prepare ourselves for our last day of Girona exploring.
