3/13 – Last day at sea, um, port, um, Muscat, um, whatever

Today is a weird day, because a large portion of the ship is disembarking. Our schedule doesn’t change, except that we are organizing our tips and trying to make sure we see everyone to whom we want to give a little something special.  It’s a little bit of a sad day, because we know tomorrow is our last – and truly, we don’t want to leave.  We know we are safe here, we’re infection-free, and we’ve made such great connections with so many people, we would stay here forever if we could.

Oh, and there is some stinky cattle ship in port – and it really is amazing how much it stinks! So much so that Stephen has to make an announcement about it on the PA. Ick! But other than that, the port is gorgeous, as we remembered – with those totally amazing craggy cliffs and the stark white buildings everywhere – if it weren’t such a weird day, it would be a nice port stop…..sigh.

So, we do our thing, pack our bags, hand out our tips, avoid getting into a fight with a totally drunk guy who is trying to bump me off my bar stool in The Living Room as we have a last drink with Adi, our sweet bartender up there. (I called it Bumper Chairs – but it was seriously frightening enough that I left and moved over to a table by the dance floor.  Adi came over after the guy left and apologized profusely – not that it was his fault at all. The guy was blotto, but it was the first time I ever felt physically threatened in a long, long while.)  And that is the end of our last night aboard.  Tomorrow is the beginning of another adventure.
