Our first day at sea went….well, I suppose fine! At this point in time, I can’t really recall any of what we did, but we never had a problem occupying our time. There are some great entertainers as well (good comedians) and the production show (at least so far) was more rock and (for me) popular oriented. No complaints (as opposed our most recent Oceania Amazon experience – thank heavens!).
Today in Cabo, we are doing absolutely nothing. Just walking around, having a bite to eat, then getting back aboard the ship. It’s a short call, 11a to 6p and we don’t feel like renting a car (been there, done that, have pretty much toured all over) or going on a boat tour, so wandering around it is.
We get smart this time, and use our special Suite tender disembarkation. Not making that mistake again! Gian escorts us and others down to the tender platform and we walk right on, and are deposited on the pier in no time flat. Since it was still fairly early, we took our time walking around the marina, looking at all the different tour stalls as we headed out into town in search of a grocery store we had found to look for snacks. We were thinking corn nuts, chocolate, etc., just little stuff like that. Ha! Not in this place! It was called the California Ranch Market (which should have been our first warning) and the description said something about natural foods…well…yeah – it was natural, naturally Californian! Not a shred of local food, all name brands, organic, etc., and about as high priced as anything you’d find in Southern California! That was a bust.
Oh well. At least we wasted enough time that we can think about lunch now. We traipsed through town, perusing some little places, and passing Taco Loco – where I’d read had the best tacos. But, we decided to keep heading toward the Giggling Marlin, a place we’d been years ago with my folks. We figured it was enough off the beaten path as not to be so crowded and it wasn’t Cabo Wabo, which was all we cared about.
We were definitely right about the not being crowded part! Probably because it was so early, the place was totally empty. We were afraid they weren’t even open – but they were and we settled into the bar for some great ceviche and fried fish tacos – and beer – of course there was beer!

And that completed our day ashore! We trooped back to around the marina, past the place that tried to rip off our friends oh so many years ago, and around to the pier where we, of course, went to the Rolling Stones bar for our farewell beers. It’s a tradition – what can we say? We snacked on our peanuts, drank our beers and hung out listening to the blaring rock music, then walked back to the tender line.
And that was our lovely day in Cabo. We hung out on the balcony as we sailed, got some great sunset shots of Lovers’ Beach and Los Arcos, then headed to dinner, show and Spinnakers, where we are becoming fixtures because, of course, we have found a trio of great bartenders who totally take care of us. And that’s a wrap!
