Last port – hard to believe – and we are scheduled for Punta Cana, where we have no plans but to wander about the port area. However, that is not to be. The tides and winds are against us and the Captain has made the decision the weather is also against us, so we are going to La Romana, a more protected harbor on the southern side of the island. We don’t really care – since we had nothing planned, plus the weather does look fairly rainy – so we’re happy to just spend a day hanging around.
Breakfast done, we finally venture out around 11 and peruse all the shops in the port area. There are the obligatory Duty Free stores, but also lots of local crafts we’ll hit on the way back. We peruse a great little store with tons of coffee we’ll pick up later, then head to the one bar in the port where we sit under cover, drinking beer and watching it pour down rain. Good decision to hang out and take it easy today!

Once the rain abates, we buy our coffee, hit a craft stall for “metal” bracelet gifts then go back to the ship to spend the rest of the day hanging out, reading and just really doing nothing.
